Who am I: Well I’m a “California-preppy,” hippy-dippy girl from…well LA. I’m from an ‘organic’ eating family that relocated to the East after my dad retired. Needless to say, I work my happy government job, and they live a happy retired life with my little brother (who is taller than I). We’re absurdly close, and way too involved in each others lives. My mom was a wedding cake baker, and so I grew up around cakes [and for this reason probably subliminally linked cakes and romance].

I started baking at the good old age of who knows. One of my favorite memories was my mom leaving for the gym, and leaving me to bake cakes while she was gone. It was a system that worked only because I was home-schooled. After graduating from high school and moving to my medium-sized east coast college, I followed my mom’s advice and baked to make (and keep) friends. Somewhere during college, I decided to bake to find a “significant other.” This has since led to the “throwing cake” phrase, that I have grown to love.

Overall, I can be described by my love of cakes, cookies, pastries, bars (both the baked seven layer kind and the alcohol-filled kind), bundts, food history, my bright green KitchenAid mixer, women’s social history,  interns/volunteers, Jewish Civilization, Popsicles, girlie drinks, semi-girlie boys, Anglican churches, big sunglasses, trashy television (i.e. Gossip Girls), square white plates, pop culture, purses, shoes, J.Crew, Blue Moon, Vanity Fair, fluff novels and movies, and inappropriate crushes.

The long and short of it, I blog about my life because, as was said by one of my favorite bloggers, it’s cheaper than therapy. :)
